Brown fashion

In the fashion world the neutral, chocolate brown has taken over fashion influencers' Instagrams, but why has it become so popular. People are arguing that this shade of brown is becoming the new beige. In 2019 and part of 2020 beige was particularly in trend however moving into a new year has meant a new colour has become popularised.

Neutrals are nothing new for winter and autumnal fashion, over the past few years the light beige and tan colours have dominated this industry to create monochromatic, mix and matching, chic looks. In history, brown has typically been the neutral colour that the fashion world would avoid as it was seen as unattractive and out of style. However in the autumn and winter of 2020, Brown took to the runway all over the world with designers such as Bottega Veneta and Prabal Gurung making it fashionable. these designers have so much power that they can make anything look good even if it's not! Members of the public who are inspired by the latest fashion trends and fashion models and influences quickly caught on to the colour being the latest 'it' colour. with minimalism also being in trend at the moment the two came together to create powerful looks that dominated fashion. The colour has been translated into all different styles including street style and dark academia style. This colour started to get power during the autumn of 2020. The dark oranges and browns of the leaves around at the time helped to push this style out as it created Instagram worthy pictures.

While this colour is very stylish at the moment I am not sure it will last into the spring and summer months of this year. One item in particular which has taken the internet by storm is the brown north face puffer jackets. The north face coats have been popular for a while in a range of different colours, however with brown and north face puffers both being in trend there was a huge demand in the fashion industry for them. Originally retailing at around £250 they sold out very quickly and are now up on second-hand sites such as depop and eBay for up to £450.

Clothing brands are trying to keep up with this trend. Jaded London produced a pair of patchwork brown denim jeans which were extremely popular. It's always hard to tell how long fashion trends will last however I do think in September 2021 this style will still be trendy.
