9/11 conspiracy theories.

On the 11th of September 2001, a devastating event happened in history. Islamic extremists hijacked 4 planes that were flying over New York City. Two of these planes were flown directly into the twin towers of the world trade centre, another crashed into the top-secret military building, 'The Pentagon', in Washington DC, and the final one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Sadly 2,977 died and a further 6,000 were badly injured. Some claim that the president of the time, George W. Bush, knew about the attacks beforehand and as a result, many conspiracy theories surround this topic.
One of the most popular theories and ideas is that the twin towers were knocked down by explosives. The first crash happened at 8:46 am, many would not be awake at this time. So when they woke up on the morning of the 11th of September 2001 they were struck with the tragic news and of course, there was a lot of chat and gossip about the event. An internet chat room began with rumors that it was hit down by explosives. The author of the chat room mentioned how the collapse of the North and South towers was an act of controlled demolition. People who agreed with this view insisted that the fires from crashing jet airline simply would not have been enough to destroy the towers and send two well-built structures to cave into the ground. The news channels mentioned how it fell due to the fire melting the metals in the building, however, critics argue the jet fires were not strong enough to melt the steel.
USA air defense was told not to interrupt the planes and instead stand down. This theory argues that North American aerospace defense command (NORAD) issued a direct stand-down or that they deliberately mixed the messages so that fighters couldn't get to the planes on time to prevent it from happening. However NORAD was not told about the incoming airplanes, so are they really to blame?
Apparently, there were also suspicious Israeli agents found in the back of a van, recording the whole event. This would've been fine if left like this but these men were acting suspicious as they seemed happy and pleased about 9/11. The FBI arrested them and later found out that two of them were Israeli intelligent agents.
When the 'plane' hit The Pentagon the hole from its hit was said to of been too small, which raised a lot of suspicions. It was accused to be a missile that was fired by the USA. According to conspiracist Thierry Meyssan, "how does a plane 125 ft. wide and 155 ft. long fit into a hole which is only 60 ft. across?"
According to research no plane of any speed would be capable of traveling through the strong, twin towers. "But we have videos of the planes crashing into the building..." some would say, however, some would go so far as to argue that the footage was digitally faked. It goes even further to say that the 'missiles' that destroyed the towers were projections done digitally to make it look like planes.
There are many more theories on this tragedy, the majority of which being down to the US government or the fact that it was missiles.
The theories make us question everything we thought was true. Now over 19 years ago it is hard for us to ever find out the truth of what really happened on the 11th of September 2001.
The reason I have put this post up is that I thought the views surrounding the tragic terrorist attack was very interesting and thought-provoking, however, I do not personally believe in any of these views.
